On Security
Information on your IT environment is highly sensitive, and putting this information on a public website is conceivably risky. No matter what measures you take to protect your data, there is always a residual risk. Research shows that most security violations come from within the organization. Placing some of that information with ITScope does therefore not necessarily increase this risk.
ITScope uses state-of-the-art technology to keep your data secure. By far the greatest portion of our data is publicly available from other sources, just not in the concise targeted form ITScope makes it available to you.
Your best security is to not put any identifyable information on our database. This is why we strongly caution against storing IP addresses, hostnames, dns names, user names or passwords here. You will get the full benefit of our service even without doing so.
Most members of your organization will know the environment well enough so that abstract labels, acronyms or code names will be fully adequate.
Used properly, ITScope may even enable you to further limit the necessity to make sensitive data accessible internally, hence substantially improving your overall security position.
